On 15 and 16 May, the Poble Espanyol in Barcelona hosted the first edition of BRIT UNDER FEST, an event dedicated to contemporary British culture that brought together music, art, photography, gastronomy and cultural experiences in an intimate and authentic atmosphere. The Village tent and Picnic area came alive with energetic live performances and a strong connection between artists and audiences.
Bikini Body opened the festival with rhythm, energy and a perfect setlist. Later, Hungry left us speechless with an intense and visceral live performance that connected instantly with the crowd, turning every minute into something authentic and increasingly rare to find today. To close the night, Silverbacks crowned the evening with brilliant melodies, characterful lyrics and an impeccable balance of energy and precision.
During the second day of BRIT UNDER FEST, Pynch opened the musical programme with melodies and lyrics blending chaos and nostalgia, Cooper T brought the excellence of the underground scene with a striking performance, and King No-One delivered a powerful live show that confirmed them as one of the best-kept secrets in today’s indie scene.
These performances were joined by other highlights including the soundtrack selection by Seba Bruno, our in-house DJ, the striking stage presence of Sylvester & Francesca and their impactful fashion performance, as well as the four comedians from The Comedy Clubhouse.
One of the standout moments of the weekend was the talk featuring Irvine Welsh, which exceeded all attendance expectations. The Scottish author led a warm, funny and highly engaging conversation alongside Ben Cardew, sharing anecdotes, reflections and answering audience questions in a relaxed and special atmosphere.
The exhibition created together with the British Culture Archive was another of the festival’s major attractions. Attendees were able to explore a selection of iconic images from contemporary British culture, including works by photographer Rob Bremner, offering an authentic perspective deeply connected to the UK’s social and musical scene.
The food experience curated by Banco de Boquerones was also one of the festival’s most celebrated elements, featuring a specially created menu with a British twist that was warmly received by festival-goers.
