Brit Under Fest will hold its inaugural edition on 15 and 16 May at Poble Espanyol

Barcelona adds a new cultural event to its calendar with the arrival of Brit Under Fest, a festival that will celebrate its first edition on 15 and 16 May at the Carpa-Pícnic in Poble Espanyol. The festival is born with the aim of becoming a meeting point for contemporary British culture, integrating music, literature, art, fashion and gastronomy in an open format, without labels or barriers, and designed for all audiences.

The first programming announcement clearly defines the project’s identity. Irvine Welsh, cult author and a benchmark of contemporary British literature, will participate in an exclusive talk reviewing his career and unique creative universe. During his session, he will discuss Men in Love, the latest instalment of the Trainspotting saga, not yet published in Spanish, as well as Marked for Death, already available in Spanish and set in another moment of the same narrative universe.

On the musical side, Cooper T will bring the rawest and most energetic edge to the festival with a fusion of jungle, garage and hip-hop infused with a distinct punk attitude. Hailing from Manchester, the artist comes endorsed by names such as Iggy Pop, BBC Radio 6, and tours alongside bands like Viagra Boys, Sleaford Mods and Kneecap. Completing this first announcement is King No-One, a British trio noted for their luminous guitars, emotional intensity and direct, empathetic lyrics, presenting their long-awaited debut album The Burden of Empathy.

Beyond the concerts, Brit Under Fest offers a full cultural experience including DJ sets, gastronomic spaces, exhibitions, talks and other parallel activities. A festival conceived as an immersion into the current British scene and as a new cultural meeting space in the city.

The event’s spirit is also reflected in its visual identity, with a logo designed by the award-winning Yarza Twins, capturing the mix of avant-garde, underground culture and transversal perspective that defines Brit Under Fest.
